Welcome Video for Ms. Anthony- Jefferson Elementary's Counselor
HELLO EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY TO MY SCHOLARS, PARENTS AND FAMILIES. IT IS AN HONOR TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU ONLINE TO STAY CONNECTED WHEN WE ARE NOT ABLE TO CONNECT FACE TO FACE. I HAVE BEEN A SCHOOL COUNSELOR FOR JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY SINCE MARCH OF 2016. I WAS A SCHOOL COUNSELOR AT SHAW VPA FOR 10 YEARS (2006-2016) AND PREVIOUSLY A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER WHEN I BEGAN TO WORK FOR SAINT LOUIS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN 2000-06. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT I DO. THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR PROVIDES CHARACTER BUILDING/SOCIAL SKILLS LESSONS, GROUPS, INDIVIDUAL AND CRISIS COUNSELING (ADDRESSING SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS), CAREER AWARENESS AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO ALL STUDENTS. RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS, PARENTS AND FAMILIES AS NEEDED. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND FAMILIES COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER TO ENHANCE STUDENTS' LEARNING BY ADDRESSING ANY CONCERNS THAT ARISE. RESOURCES AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION ARE AVAILABLE IN MY OFFICE AT JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY FOR STUDENTS, PARENTS AND FAMILIES. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME VISIT MY OFFICE AND GET TO KNOW YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL COUNSELOR WHEN YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO DO SO. I WOULD BE REALLY HONORED TO MEET YOU AND HAVE A CONVERSATION REGARDING YOUR CHILDREN'S CONCERNS. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT 314-231-2459 OR VIA EMAIL AT DEBRA.ANTHONY@SLPS.ORG. EDUCATION: BACHELORS IN GENERAL STUDIES MINOR IN PSYCHOLOGY FROM COLUMBIA COLLEGE. MASTERS IN SCHOOL AND PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING FROM LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY. CERTIFIED SCHOOL COUNSELOR, LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR AND CERTIFIED PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINER.
