Courses I will be teaching for the 2024-2025 school year:

Beginning Choir: The beginning choir is a class where students who are new to singing in a group learn the fundamentals of choral music. This includes basics like vocal techniques, reading music, and understanding rhythm. The choir typically focuses on building a strong foundation in music theory and developing harmonious vocal blending. Students will practice singing simple and accessible songs from various genres, gradually building their skills and confidence. The goal is to create a supportive environment where beginners can enjoy making music together and grow as singers.

Advanced Choirs: The advanced choir is a class for students who have already developed strong vocal skills and a good understanding of music. In this group, singers tackle more complex and challenging pieces, often from a diverse range of genres and styles. The focus is on refining techniques, enhancing musical expression, and achieving a high level of vocal harmony and blend. Advanced choirs may also perform at more prestigious events and competitions, providing students with opportunities to showcase their skills and collaborate with other musicians. This group will split into various voice parts: SATB, SAB, SSAA, TB

Beginning Piano: The beginning piano class introduces students to the basics of piano playing. Students learn to read music, understand keyboard layout, and play simple melodies and chords. The class focuses on building foundational skills, including hand coordination, rhythm, and technique. Through practice and guided instruction, students gain confidence and develop the ability to play basic pieces, laying the groundwork for more advanced piano studies.

Intermediate/Advanced Piano: The intermediate/Advanced piano class builds on the fundamentals learned in beginning piano. Students in this class delve into more complex pieces and techniques, exploring varied musical styles and expanding their repertoire. The focus is on improving sight-reading, finger agility, and expressive playing, as well as introducing more advanced music theory concepts. The class aims to develop a deeper musicality and technical skill, preparing students for more advanced piano studies or performance opportunities.

Percussion Class: The percussion class teaches students how to play various percussion instruments, such as drums, mallets, and auxiliary instruments. Students learn fundamental techniques, rhythm, and coordination while exploring different styles and genres. The class focuses on building skills through practice, ensemble performance, and understanding percussion's role in different musical contexts. It's designed to develop both individual proficiency and the ability to collaborate effectively in a group setting. This class will also include Drumline:

- Drumline focuses on the performance and techniques specific to marching percussion, such as snare drums, bass drums, tenor drums, and cymbals. Students learn precision drumming, rhythmic patterns, and synchronization while performing as part of a coordinated group. The class emphasizes intricate routines, dynamic performance skills, and the ability to play in sync with other percussionists, often preparing for school events, parades, or competitive performances.
