Dr. Joseph A. Thumas

Hello! Bienvenidos a la clase de espanol .  My name is Joseph A. Thumas. I was raised in Coral Gables, Florida and graduated from Coral Gables High (Home of the Cavaliers) and 5 time National Football Champions. I obtained my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and obtained my Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeatern University Shepard Broad Law Center.

I moved to St. Louis, MO in February 2022 after retiring as a school teacher in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 22 years. I taught at Dillard High (Home of the Mighty Panthers) for 22 years, and taught Critical Thinking, Spanish, World History, American History and Legal Studies.

This 2023-2024 school year I will be teaching Spanish I, Spanish II, and Critical Thinking for my Advisory Students.

My strength mission statement is that by being a teacher, activator and a learner, I can bring the best out of my students so that they can succeed academically and socially thus being the future leaders of America. 

A goal this year is to practice a South African term Ubuntu which means "I am what I am because of who we all are."  Additionally, we will great each other with respect and love using Sikhona (I am here to be seen) and Sawubona (We see you as you are). 

My hobbies include reading, fishing, hiking and Miami Hurricanes football.  Go U- Go Canes!
