  • About Me

    Hello,

My name is Velma Young.  I am a native of the Keystone State of Pennsylvania.  I moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1990, when my husband retired from serving the country in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years.  We’ve raised two sons and now enjoy living life as empty nesters and as Nana and Pau Pau.  I enjoy reading, singing, and thrift shop browsing.

I was educated in the Chester Upland School District and graduated from Cheyney University with a degree in Special Education.  I continued with my education, receiving a Master's Degree in Education from National-Louis University and a Post's Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Welcome to Mann…Where Curiosity Meets Exploration!

I have been honored to teach students with special needs for the past 38 years, in the states of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Missouri.   I am currently a teacher at Mann Elementary School, teaching students who have an educational diagnosis of Autism.  I am blessed to do a job that I so enjoy and find both challenging and rewarding.   I look forward to working with my students, engaging them in a variety of learning experiences and providing them with the opportunity to explore and reach their fullest potential.
