• A standardized test score is a key part of a college application at most colleges and universities.  It is also important for many scholarships.  Every college and university in the United States accepts both the ACT and the SAT.  This isn't always the case, so sometimes someone may be under the impression that you have to take a specific test based on the school you're applying to.  However, since 2007, every college and university in the country has accepted both tests, so that is no longer a concern.  The student should choose the test that better fits their academic strengths.  Some students may choose to take both to see how they do on each exam.  If a student has questions about which test to take, they should speak with Guidance Counselor Ms. Boskamp, or College Admissions Specialist, Ms. Nickolai.

    About the ACT:
Students should have dedicated study time for the ACT before taking the official test.   Students should plan to take the ACT during their Junior year, if not earlier.

Students must register for the ACT in advance.  They can register by visiting http://www.actstudent.org/

Once a student has registered for the test, there is a fee if they want to change their exam date.
It is important that students attend the test once they register.
All juniors will take an ACT test in school during the month of April.

New for 2022-23! There is an elective course, ACT Prep, that is offered to both juniors and seniors. This is a semester-based course with the intention of helping all students raise their ACT scores.

    About the PSAT and Pre-ACT
The PSAT is the practice test for the SAT and provides an indication of predicted success on the SAT.  The PSAT is advised for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  Juniors taking the PSAT are eligible for scholarship opportunities based on their PSAT score.

The 10th graders will take the Pre-ACT on Oct 11, 2023.   Select 11th graders will take the PSAT on Oct 17, 2023.  The 11th graders will take the ACT in the spring.  The date will be sometime in April 2024.

    Fee Waivers:
Students who are eligible for fee waivers receive a maximum of TWO (2) fee waivers per test during their high school career.  No matter if the fee waiver is received through a high school or a community organization, the maximum is still two (2)  fee waivers.  That means a student who is eligible for a fee waiver may receive two for the ACT, two for the SAT, and two for the SAT Subject Tests.
