I was born on an Air Force base in Okinawa, Japan (Thank you for your service, Dad!). My family settled in Michigan after his service time. I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in mathematics, then spent two years in Sierra Leone, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. It was there I discovered my passion for teaching. My 40+ years of teaching have been in the St. Louis area, my wife's hometown. I have been at CA since January 2014.
During my years at CA I have taught every level of math we offer, from Double Dose to AP Calculus. Currently my primary teaching load is at the junior/senior level. My greatest joy in teaching is helping students lose the "I hate" of math, by making it understandable and approachable. I look forward to leading the next generation into the beauty and mystery of mathematics.
