Miss Marisa Boettcher

Meet Miss Boettcher

Hello, I am the first grade teacher in room 209. This is my fourth year teaching 1st grade. Prior to that, I worked at Buder Elementary for over 15 years in several different classrooms as a teacher’s assistant. A few years ago, I decided to go back to school and fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher. I recently received my master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri in St. Louis.

In my years at Buder, I have observed that all children can learn and grow when they are provided with opportunities and support. I know that the students in this class have different learning needs and styles. To make my lessons more engaging and accessible for all students, I will use a variety of methods and materials.  This will include music, videos, and movement activities.  Students will be able to demonstrate what they are learning in different ways: in discussions, through writing, by drawing, and in group activities.   I am not only focused on academics; I want my students to acquire the emotional and social skills that they need to be successful in school and beyond.  To support social skill development during lessons, students will work together in pairs as well as in large and small groups.

When I’m not working, I like to read, bake, garden, and watch movies.  I am very close to my family and enjoy spending time with my 3 nephews.  Additionally, I am big fan of St. Louis sports and try to attend as many Cardinal games as I can each season.

I am truly looking forward to working with your child.  Thank you in advance for your help and support. I know that this is going to be a wonderful school year. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can email me (marisa.boettcher@slps.org) or message me on Class Dojo. I am looking forward to working together to help your child meet his or her goals in 1st grade.
