Hello!

My name is Daniel Martel. This will be my sixth year teaching, but second at Career Academy! I grew up in Byron Center, Michigan and graduated in 2018 from Michigan State University with a degree in Comparative Cultures and Politics. I'm currently getting my Masters in Public Administration at Arkansas State University. I started out teaching on a provisional teaching license through Teach for America, but now have my lifetime teaching certificate for the State of Missouri!

For the last four years of my teacher career, I taught World History and AP Government at Pine Bluff High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Here at CA, I will be teaching Government and AP Government, which is my ideal course load! In the past I have also taught AP US History, World History, Civics, and World Geography, but nothing compares to teaching government! 

I absolutely love sports. I am a diehard Detroit sports fan (Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and even the Lions for some reason), although I'm certainly rooting for the Cardinals in the National League. I've played and/or coached soccer my entire life, so I'm a big St. Louis City SC fan now that they've joined the MLS! 

I'm really looking forward to a great school year! Every day is unique and special, and we are going to make the most of every single one of them. Class will be challenging, but we'll have fun along the way and I'm confident that you'll leave room 109 feeling like you grew a lot as a student and as a person.
