Ms. Janet Strain
Meet Ms. Strain:
In my life, I am blessed to have two granddaughters and three wonderful children – two sons and a daughter. My favorite pastimes are reading, spending time with my granddaughters, watching my daughter and granddaughter compete in rodeos, camping, horseback riding, hiking, and traveling with my family. I have taught special needs students for 17 years. When I obtained my Reading Specialist Certification from Webster University, I then taught as a reading specialist for four years. This is my sixth year teaching at Hodgen Tech Academy.
I enjoy creating a positive learning environment that differentiates to meet the needs of each scholar. I want scholars to know they can be successful, that learning is relevant, and challenges can be fun and empowering. I strive to keep my instruction flexible and creative to retain interest, increase motivation, and inspire a passion for life-long learning.
Behavior
Scholars have clear and consistent expectations that create an affirming, safe environment. I believe in positive reinforcement accompanied with redirection of behavior.
Class Dojo is utilized school wide as a positive reinforcement and for important parent communication. I will regularly post class pictures and updates. If you have not already, please download the app to connect with our class!
Calming Chair is a special calming space in the room that gives scholars the opportunity to self-regulate. If necessary, a scholar can go to a buddy room to calm down
