Bachelors in Science with a concentration in Physical Education

Ms. Meneely

Hello Hodgen students, my name is Ms. Meneely, this will be my 8th year teaching at Hodgen Tech Elementary! I am excited to be able to work with you here at Hodgen to enhance your learning/passion for living a healthy/active lifestyle and a love for physical activities.

A little bit about me and my educational background is that I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree with a concentration in Physical Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I am currently pursuing my Masters degree at Webster University. I grew up training/competing in competitive figure skating since the age of five. After high school, I moved to Michigan to train and compete for Team USA. I earned the bronze and silver medal at the National Championships, and have competed in numerous international skating competitions. A highlight of my skating career was when I competed in the 2014 World Synchronized Skating Championships!

Outside of teaching, I love hanging out with friends & family, traveling, and playing with my two dogs! I am also a figure skating coach at the rink I grew up skating at, in Kirkwood & Webster Groves Missouri. I coach a nationally ranked synchronized skating team with skaters that come from all over the St. Louis area. I have a passion for helping kids reach their full potential in physical activities in and outside of school and want to help them be the best that they can be!

♥ When students get enough active play, there’s a marked improvement in their cognitive abilities, academic behavior and overall attitude, according to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. It’s more important than ever to encourage our kids to incorporate physical activity into their day. (Preschoolers need at least 180 minutes of physical activity each day, while kids aged five to 17 need 60 minutes of mild to moderate exercise a day.)
