Lexington Elementary School

Hello families and scholars of Lexington Elementary School.  My name is Mrs. Jessica Cole. This is my 9th year teaching at Lexington Elementary School. I am excited to announce that this year I have transitioned to teaching  art to all of our scholars. 

I have a great passion for teaching and I work hard to engage students in learning through high-energy and hands-on lessons.  I went to California State University at Fullerton and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from there. I  received my Master's in Teaching from Greenville College in 2012. Before starting my career in elementary education, I worked as an information technology professional and a corporate trainer. Students are naturally drawn to technology and I love to use our devices to enhance learning.  

On a personal note, I am a St. Louis Metropolitan native. I grew up in Illinois just across the river.  I am the youngest of seven children and graduated from Granite City High School.  Both of my parents held factory jobs in Granite City. My mother worked at Nestle and my father at American Steel. My parents were old school and very much believed that it takes a village to raise children. My siblings and I were taught that showing respect and being honest was the backbone of growing into an outstanding world citizen. I believe that holds true today!  My husband and I have recently moved from our wonderful home in Ferguson, MO. to St. Charles,Mo. We share our home with our dog Teddy, the loveable bearded dragon Lil P, and the enchanting chameleon, Mortimer the Great!  In addition to teaching art at Lexington, I also teach English to students in China. My husband and I have been known to flip a house or two. If that were not enough, I am also starting to write and illustrate a children's book! Whatever time I have left, I dedicate to family and napping.

Even though we are still facing challenges with Covid, I feel fortunate that we are able to all be together in person. I know that we are going to have an amazing year. I cannot wait to see how we all grow together! Thank you for entrusting your child's education to me. I am looking forward to working with everyone to make this the best year ever!
