    Overview/Welcome

The Hickey Elementary School was built in 1965 and opened in March 1966. It was named after Phillip J. Hickey, who was Superintendent for the St. Louis Public Schools from 1942 until 1963. The school served its immediate neighborhood with kindergarten through eighth grade classes until the St. Louis Public Schools reorganized the configuration of classes in 1979. At that time, Hickey was designated as a middle school serving sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Hickey Middle School was closed in June, 1993. The school reopened in September, 1993 for elementary students.
Hickey Elementary School currently serves one classroom of kindergarten students, seven classes in grades one through five. We also have two special education teachers, an Early Childhood Education Classroom, Art, Music, and Physical Education. Support Staff includes a School Counselor, Librarian, Speech/Language Pathologist, Social Worker, Nurse, Psychological Examiner, Parent Support Specialist, LLI Reading Specialist, and a Behavior Interventionalist.
