In special education, there's too much emphasis placed on the deficit and not enough on the strength.

Hello, my name is Ms. Horton and I have had the privilege of being a devoted Special Education Teacher for 30 plus years in St. Louis Public Schools.  I attended parochial  schools K-12 grade.  My college degrees were obtained from Northwest Missouri State University.  Upon graduating from college, I decided to go teach at the school I attended while growing up.  It was very rewarding to know I could instill beliefs and knowledge in a child.  What a great feeling!  I don't have any children of my own, but your child (ren) is mine.  To nuture is to teach!  My passion is to TEACH!

Special needs students have the ability to learn, to function, to grow, and most importantly, to succeed.  The difference comes from how they learn or how they need to be taught.  My expectations for my students are simple.  We will work hard and have fun doing so.
