Welcome to Second Grade!

My name is Scheilla Schallon and I am originally from Perú. I received my Bachelor's Degree In Early Childhood Education from The Women's University of the Sacred Heart in Lima (UNIFE). I received a certificate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru to teach Spanish to non-natives as well. I am an Early Childhood and Spanish (K-12) certified teacher. I began my career as a pre-school and kindergarten teacher in Lima, Perú. I moved to Saint Louis in 2010, where I taught first grade and Kindergarten for 9 years at the Saint Louis Language Immersion School. I joined Mason Elementary School in 2019, and I'm excited about working here. Coming from another country to another culture as well as working for an IB school has taught me many things. Among them is to respect other's points of view, be open-minded, and get to know my students for who they are. One of my goals as a teacher is to inspire my students to learn about other cultures and languages. One way to do this is to ensure that they are up-to-date about current local and world events, helping them to understand and respect different cultures.
