Hello, and welcome to my classroom webpage! My name is Monica Soehnlin, and I am one of the 5th-grade teachers at Mason School of Academic and Cultural Literacy. I have been teaching in the St. Louis Public School District for 19 years, with experience in teaching 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) at Webster University. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, attending festivals, watching Cardinal baseball, and working on DIY projects. It is a privilege to be your child's teacher, and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

I believe that every child has the potential to learn. As a teacher, my aim is to foster a productive learning environment by delivering high-quality instruction tailored to the diverse needs of students and grounded in the latest best practices for teaching, learning, and assessment. I will build positive, trusting relationships within the Mason community and actively engage students, families, and staff in the educational process. By creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment where respect, responsibility, kindness, and honesty are consistently upheld, I will promote ongoing growth through reflection, risk-taking, and goal-setting. My goal is for each child to leave my classroom with self-belief and the understanding that, with effort, they can achieve great things.
