Ms. Smith

Greetings! I have been working in SLPS since 2000, and have been working with students living with ASD since 2003.  I got my Masters degree in Special Education K-12 in 2007. I love teaching and learning from students with special needs and abilities.  My son is a sixth grade student in SLPS and is also living with ASD. I try to challenge myself daily to learn a new approach to teach students who experience this unique communication disorder. Currently, I am working to learn video modeling.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy playing softball with my son, walking, gardening, cooking, listening to new music, appreciating new art, and enjoying time with my friends and family.

This is my third year teaching at Peabody Elementary! I love teaching at this school for a myriad of reasons: It's staff promote an extremely positive learning environment, there are many interesting and engaging extra-curricular activities for the students, and the students are very curious and love to learn! We have met the challenges of teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic and are looking forward to a safe, instructive, and engaging school year!
