Dear Parents,

I hope this letter finds you well. As we start a new academic year, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about my background.

Firstly, I am honored to be returning to the classroom by special request. While I retired after 30 years of dedicated teaching, the passion for educating young minds has always remained close to my heart. During my tenure, I was privileged to receive the Pettus award for teaching excellence, a testament to my commitment to fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment.

One of my teaching philosophies revolves around hands-on activities. I believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged and can relate their lessons to real-world experiences. You can expect our classroom to be bustling with interactive projects and lively discussions.

Outside the classroom, I wear a few other hats. I am an author, specializing in local African-American history. My books aim to shed light on the rich tapestry of our community's past. Additionally, I am a public speaker, often sharing insights from my research and personal experiences.

On a personal note, I am married to a wonderful physician, and together we have raised two incredible children who, having grown up, have now moved out to carve their own paths. Our home also has a mischievous dog, who keeps us active and entertained. In my free time, I indulge in photography, capturing moments of beauty and significance. I also practice martial arts, a discipline that has taught me focus, resilience, and the importance of continuous learning.

I am genuinely excited about the upcoming school year and the opportunity to work with your child. Together, we will create a space where they can thrive, learn, and grow. Your support and collaboration will be invaluable in making this year a success.
