• The Caring School Community® (CSC) program is a nationally recognized, research-based K–6 program that builds classroom and school-wide community.

It focuses on strengthening students’ connectedness to school—an important element for increasing academic motivation and achievement and for reducing drug use, violence, and delinquency. The U.S. Department of Education has recently highlighted the Caring School Community® program’s research base and effectiveness.

The Caring School Community Program focuses on creating a powerful and caring learning community.  It is designed to develop students’ sense of “community” in school, a sense of belonging, contributions, and influence in school.  We will use strategies such as class meetings, cross-age buddy activities, family homework conversations, student councils, and school-wide activities that include parents to help build this environment.

     GOALS OF CARING SCHOOL COMMUNITY

The goals of the Caring School Community are to build student commitment to school, develop learning, principle behavior, and making school a place where students’ needs for belonging, competence, and autonomy are met – a caring community. This will be done by building a character education foundation.

    ·         All students will demonstrate good character qualities.

    ·         All students will achieve proficiency levels in all academic areas.

    ·         Students will attain and exceed projected attendance levels each year.

    ·         Parents will believe that their role is paramount in their child's education.
