Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher at Ashland Elementary School 2024-2025 School Year

Hello Ashland parents and students!

Here is some information about me. I started teaching in 2002 at L'ouverture Middle school, where I taught for 5 years. I worked there teaching 6th grade students until 2006, after obtaining my B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Fontbonne University and then my MA Degree from Fontbonne University in Special Education. I am also certified in Reading.

I then began my career as a Special Education teacher. I joined the staff here at Ashland Elementary School in August of 2006-2007. I am currently a Cross Categorical Special Education for this year. For the last 4 years, I was in the position of Reading Specialist here at Ashland. I have been teaching at Ashland for 15 years. I love teaching and molding students both academically and socially, molding their minds towards success. 

My hometown is Little Rock, Arkansas. I attended my first 3 years of college at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Ark. I moved to St. Louis in 1989. I graduated with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration in 2006 and then obtained my M.S. Degree in Special Education in 2009, both from Fontbonne University. I continued my education by securing my Certification in Reading in 2017.

I am very passionate about working with students to be the best that can be. I specialize in meeting students where they are in the education process and guiding towards proficiency and advanced levels.
