My name is Christopher Mitchell and I will be teaching 3rd Grade. This will be my fourth year teaching at Ashland. I am married to my beautiful wife, Kenya. I am a member of The Tabernacle Church and director of our Men’s Ministry. I was born and raised in North St. Louis City where I attended SLPS in Elementary, Middle, and High School. I began substitute teaching at SLPS in 2012. Since then, I’ve held many roles, from Instructional Care Aide to Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist. My experience has taught me how to provide a safe learning environment while empowering students to attain exceptional academic and personal achievement. 

Since July 2020, my residency teaching journey with St. Louis Teacher Residency has built a solid foundation for great teaching and learning. My experience there along with my master's degree from Washington University has led me to achieve great success in the classroom. I am proud of my ability to develop and implement aligned lesson plans while efficiently communicating with my students. I've worked hard to create a positive classroom community that encourages students to become life-long learners.
