Hello, Wolverines!!!

My name is Tracy Mense and I am super excited to be here at Vashon teaching upperclassmen! 😁

I earned my degree in Secondary Education from SLU and am certified by the state of Missouri to teach English and Social Studies. This will be my 17^th year teaching high school in the city of St. Louis. During my career, I've also had the opportunities to coach girls' and boys' basketball and girls' swimming.  I love coaching because a good coach uses all of my favorite parts of teaching (motivating, setting and surpassing goals, developing relationships, pushing past “limits”, etc.).

I grew up in North County and currently live in South St. Louis. I have 4 kiddos  and two doggos.  My kids are all really active in sports so I spend a lot of my time outside of school on the sidelines, practices, and traveling to such activities.  When I do get some free time, I enjoy reading historical fiction, cooking, watching (and re-watching) Marvel movies, and photography.  During the Corona shut down, I tried to teach myself how to draw better so you can enjoy my AH-Mazing art skills (😉😂) during class this year.
