The Counseling Curriculum is based on th Missouri Comprehensive Guidance program.  The School Counselor supports social and emotional growth of students through individual and group counseling, classroom guidance and observations.  The Counselor helps students learn to build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts in a constructive way. Students will enhance listening and social skills, learn to empathize with others and develop healthy peer relationships. I especially enjoy small group counseling. Small groups allows students to develop insights into themselves and others.  Group counseling makes it possible for more students to achieve healthier personal adjustment, cope with stress, and learn to communicate and cooperate with others. Some of the topics that groups cover are self-esteem, anger management, social skills, and friendship (one of the most popular groups).  Group counseling is an effective and efficient way to help meet students' academic, career, social/emotional developmental and situational needs.
