Teacher Message: "The only way to LEARN math is to DO math”

Biography: I have been teaching math since 1998. I have taught everything from basic math to college algebra. I have been with SLPS since 2001 and have been at Fresh Start since 2012. I feel that this is where I am supposed to be.

I have always been good at math; in fact, I wanted to be an engineer. After a year and a half, I decided that it was not for me. I chose to switch my major to secondary education. I am certified to teach mathematics and social studies in grades 7 through 12.

I earned my Bachleor's Degree in Secondary Education: Social Studies from UMSL and attended classes at Harris-Stowe State University to earn my Math Certification. I am certified to teach 7th through 12th grade in Mathematics and Social Studies.

I earned my Master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from Lindenwood University in 2021.

I earned my Doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Maryville University in 2025.
