Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School opened in September 1902 and was named for the famed poet and essayist. Better Family Life Inc. purchased the 60,000-square-foot, Ittner-designed property in June 2005 to house the Better Family Life Cultural, Educational and Business Center, which officially opened in 2013.
