Mrs. Vesta Colvin
Hello Nottingham CAJT High School Family, Friends, & Community Members!
My name is Mrs. Vesta Colvin. I am the School Counselor for Nottingham CAJT High School. I was born here in St. Louis, Missouri where I attended Saint Louis Public Schools. I was apart of the first graduating class from Gateway STEM (formerly known as Gateway Institute of Technology) in 1993. I remained in Saint Louis, Mo. and attended St. Louis University, where I earned my B.A. in psychology in 1999. I returned to school at Lindenwood University in 2011 to complete my Masters of Art (M.A.) in Counseling, where I graduated top of my class in 2013. I am a Certified School Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have over 15 years’ experience as a Department of Mental Health-Division of Developmental Disabilities Case Manager I/II/III & Habilitation Specialist II. This afforded me the opportunity to work closely in the community with adults, children, and their families who had been diagnosed with autism, down syndrome, among other intellectual challenges as well as dual diagnosed individuals. I also have experience working with individuals (children & adults) who struggle with substance abuse, suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I hope with all of my experience I can help to empower our scholars with the socio-emotional tools that will afford each scholar the opportunity to be successful academically, socially, emotionally and in career development. I hope to help prepare each scholar, I have the honor to serve, for the world of college, work force, and/or enlistment, or whatever they choose to do in life through collaboration with you, their parents & caregivers, community members, fellow administrators & teachers. I look forward to serving this community.
