"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But man, there's no boundary line to art." - Charlie Parker (1920-1955)
I have always been a musical person; ever since I was little I knew that I wanted to do “something” with music. Whether it be performing, teaching, or composing, I wanted to share my passion with the world!
ABOUT ME!
I was born in Kansas City, MO, grew up in Gladstone (a small suburb of Kansas City), and attended Oak Park High School. I was involved in every musical activity you could participate in: marching band, pep band, jazz band, symphonic band, acapella choir, musical pit orchestra, and show choir, not to mention an extra-curricular symphonic orchestra. I also joined the brotherhood of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a national men's music fraternity. After graduating high school, I furthered my education at the University of Central Missouri (UCM – Go Mules!!!) and started my journey in Music Education. I continued my dedication to various music ensembles and had the amazing experience of performing in the winter of 2017 at Carnegie Hall in NYC with our top performance ensembles; both instrumental and choir. I have also been fortunate enough to perform at the Kauffman Center in Kansas City in the spring of 2018.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education – Instrumental. I was honored with 2 awards in my final semester at UCM: Best Senior Brass Performer & Winner of The Concerto Aria Competition. This is my fifth year at Soldan, and I am excited to get back with our instruments and bring Soldan's name back to St. Louis area.
I believe teaching is a way to connect with people of all backgrounds and is a great way to make an impact on others for the better!
