Mrs. Dorothy Mirth
Hi, my name is Dorothy Mirth, and I am thrilled to be a Prekindergarten teacher at Wilkinson Early Childhood Center.
First and foremost, teaching is an absolute passion of mine! This is my ninth year teaching and I adore every minute of it. I received my Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Lindenwood University and my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. I am certified in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. After graduating with my undergrad, I went on to do various jobs that I could not quite fully enjoy. It wasn't until I began substitute teaching at Ritenour Early Childhood Center that I realized my true passion was teaching.
After working as a Teacher's Assistant for two years, I completed my student teaching in a second grade classroom at Becky-David Elementary and a prekindergarten classroom at St. Peter Early Learning Center. I then was given the opportunity to volunteer in Thailand for three months to teach in a preschool and an elementary school. It was an extremely rewarding experience and the children blessed me with memories that will last me a lifetime. After returning home from Thailand, I was lucky enough to take over the Prekindergarten Teacher position at Atonement Elementary School in Florissant, Missouri. I taught there for two years where I truly believe I made a difference in my students' lives and in the community.
This will be my seventh year at Wilkinson ECC and I hope to continue making a difference here, too.
My goal as a teacher is to instill a love of learning in all of my students so that they have the desire to become life-long learners, and I also look forward to growing as a teacher at SLPS.
Let's go Wilkie Bears!
