"Beloved Community United Methodist Church"
The Faith Based program is a thriving component of the St. Louis Public School story. The purpose of this program is to create and develop successful partnerships with area clergy and faith based organizations as it relates to providing successful resources for all students. If students need mentors, tutors or just a group of persons to work on a specific project at the school site, members of the congregations, who show an interest, volunteer their time and talent in accomplishing a specific task. The mission is to make the school a better place for all students and to create a more “connected community” by involving faith communities within the fabric of SLPS.
In addition, Each month, Superintendent Adams also meets with pastors and faith leaders for breakfast as a way to keep them informed about evolving changes in SLPS.
Many area congregations, from a variety of faiths, havementored and tutored students, participated in morning reading sessions, hosted sports camps, created and developed a peace garden and sponsored student and family holiday dinners. The contributions are extensive and the impact is far reaching. For more information about community outreach programs, contact Karen E.
