  • AESM Middle School @ L'Ouverture began in 2007 as Imagine Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics, a charter school sponsored by Missouri Baptist University and operated by Imagine Schools, the largest for profit charter school management company in the nation. In the face of criticism of several years being considered academically underperforming, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education demanded closure of the Imagine Schools which resulted in a unanimous vote for closure on April 17, 2012 and Missouri Baptist relinquishing its sponsorship at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.

    In response to the decision to close the Imagine Charter Schools, Saint Louis Public Schools welcomed the displaced students into the district as well as the school building located at 1008 S. Spring Avenue, but renaming it Academy of Environmental Science And Mathematics. Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics served over 1,000 students in grades K-8 for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. At the end of the 2013-14 school, Saint Louis Public Schools made the decision to reopen Carver Elementary for the 2014-15 school year to relocate Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics students in grades K-4. The students in grades 5-8 remained at the 1008 S. Spring Avenue location thus renaming the school, Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics Middle School.  For the 2015 - 2016 school year, students and staff of AESM Middle were moved to Toussaint L'Ouverture Middle School located at 3021 Hickory Street.  In 2017,  Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics changed it's name to Academy of Entrepreneurship Studies Middle. We also moved to Magnet School status.

    The mission at Academy of Entrepreneurship Studies Middle School (AESM) is to help students improve their potential and advance society by developing high-character students with an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset. We believe that in creating this environment where students receive a high quality, rigorous education that equips them with the skills needed to be academically successful in a diverse society.

      

    Vision

    The vision of Academy of Entrepreneurship Studies Middle School (AESM) is to increase the academic achievements of all students. The educational program is designed to create a safe and nurturing environment where students become high-character global leaders in entrepreneurship, innovation, education, and research.
