Ms. Miró
WELCOME! ¡BIENVENIDOS!
Hello! My Name Is Ms. Miró (me-row) and I Teach Spanish Here at Dewey International Studies School! I Have Been Happily a Part of the Dewey Team for 8 Years and I Am Delighted to Serve As the Spanish Teacher. I Also Attended Dewey for 3rd-5th Grade Myself and Am Proud to Be the First and Only Dewey Alumni to Work Here to Date.
I Graduated from Saint Louis University in May 2016 and Started Working Here at Dewey in August of 2016. I Graduated with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education with Dual Certification in Spanish. I Then Performed My Student Teaching at the St. Louis Language Immersion School for Spanish. I Also Received My Masters in Education Psychology and a Certificate in Tesol (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I Also Have Coursework in the Social Justice Field.
I Come from a Spanish-speaking Family and Have Spent Extensive Time in Latin America and the Caribbean. Latin Culture Is One of My Favorite Things to Teach!
For Grades Prek-2nd We Center Around Units Including the Alphabet, Basic Spanish Phonics, Colors, Numbers, Emotions, Body Parts, and Seasons/Weather. for Grades 3-5 We Overlap These Same Concepts While Also Combining Units from Our Spanish Textbook, Realidades, As Well As Auténtico, in Addition to the Online Websites Called Rockalingua and Languages Online. We Also Use a Variety of Online Platforms to Reinforce Learning Concepts Through Kahoot!, Nearpod, Gimkit, and Blooket.
I Am so Excited and Looking Forward to Working with Your Child This School Year! Please Do Not Hesitate to Contact Me with Questions or Comments. I Thank You in Advance for Your Support!
