• Welcome to the 23-24  school nurse page.  We have been away from each other for several months and during those months I am hoping you have worked hard and learned a lot! Now we will be back together soon and I know the learning will continue.

I am hoping that  we will  continue with the  health related programs we have always done at Dewey. As soon as I have been given permission to start those programs, I will begin to send up permission signs. Please remember  to fill out the forms completely and have your child to return them to the nurse. I am hoping to have our dental partners, flu partners and vision partners return to Dewey in the 23-24 school year. My students and their parents enjoy getting healthcare during the school day.

Oh I forgot to introduce myself!!  My name is Jane Ann Sykes and I have been a school year at Dewey School for several years. In fact, I see some of my first students sending their children and grandchildren to Dewey Elementary School. My office is located in the main office suite and my hours are 8:00 am until 3:30 pm until further notice. My phone number is 314-645-4845 and feel free to call with any concerns. My email address is jane.sykes@slps.org.

If your child requires medication during the school day please contact me so that I can send the necessary paperwork home. This paperwork needs to be signed by healthcare professionals and parents and then returned to school with the medication by the parent or another adult. If your child is sick, please keep them at home! If you have any questions about this, please call prior to sending your child to school. If the doctor has told you that your child needs to remain at home, please follow the doctor's orders.

Lastly, please make sure the school has the most updated phone number so I can reach you in case of an emergency. It would not hurt to have several back up numbers if you can not be located. If you need to make any changes in your emergency contact list, please call the school with any updates you would like us to make. In case of emergency, I will call the parents' list and then go down the line with anyone you have listed for a contact or a person that can pick up your child in case of an emergency.

Again, welcome back or to Dewey!! I am looking forward to a healthy school year! Please call or email with any concerns.
