Welcome to Betty Wheeler Classical Junior Academy, home of the Tigers! I am excited to get year number two started serving as principal at Betty Wheeler CJA. I am excited for the 2024-2025 school year to begin and can not wait to welcome back our returning students/families and meet all of our new students and families in the coming weeks and months. To share a little about myself, I was a physical education teacher for 10 years before moving into administration last year. I really enjoy being active and watching just about anything sport related. I am a graduate of Truman State University where I played soccer and received my undergraduate and Masters degrees. I then went to Saint Louis University to attain my Doctoral degree in educational leadership.
A lot of great things are happening at Betty Wheeler CJA, including high academic performance and a commitment to character education. Last year we pushed ourselves as a school community to help and support those in need around us while also adding some very exciting experiences for students at school. Our teachers and staff here at Betty Wheeler have a commitment to our school that is truly commendable. They offer their time before and after school to offer our students different experiences (GLEE club, robotics, book club, math olympiads, homework club and girls on the run to name a few).
My vision for Betty Wheeler Classical Junior Academy is to provide each student with a safe space to be themselves, where they are challenged daily to learn and grow. This growth is meant to be both academic and social/emotional. My expectation is that I, along with the rest of the staff, will learn and grow with the students throughout the year/s as well. By having a strong, positive relationship between the school and home, we can provide an excellent foundation of support for our students/children. Open communication is key to this, and I encourage you all as family members to reach out to your child's teacher and/or myself to build and maintain that positive relationship.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you need anything throughout this school year. Together we will make this another amazing year to remember!
